Exec and Committee responsibilities

The Chairs steer the Wapping HC Ship. They oversee the Exec and Committee, ensure the club is running smoothly and successfully for all its members and make the big decisions that help the club function.

The Vice Chair of Performance (VCP) ensures development opportunities for all levels across the club. This includes arranging coaches, our Back to Hockey summer sessions and weekly goal-keeper sessions. The Ladies’ and Men’s Club Captain report into the VCP.

The Vice Chair of Community (VCC) ensures Wapping is connecting with players, whether from our adult side of the club or Kidds section, as well as with the local communities in East London to ensure the club is giving back. Head of Kidds and Flyerz report into the VCC.

The Treasurer is in charge of the club’s finances, making sure subs are paid, match fees are up to date, and managing where money is spent.

The Secretary arranges the club’s meetings, keeps account of admin, enters teams into their leagues and can connect all members of the club to the right personnel in charge.

The Ladies’ Club Captain looks after the ladies’ side of the club. This means welcoming new players and liaising with captains to ensure the squads are filled for games each week.

The Men’s Club Captain keeps the men’s side of the club running smoothly, liaising with captains to ensure players are in the right teams and attending the appropriate training.

The Fixtures Secretaries are responsible for arranging and re-arranging all fixtures. They make sure home games and teas for the season are scheduled and organised.

The Kidds Head Coach is responsible for the youth wing of our club. With sessions for ages ranging from 6-18, they ensure the children of Wapping are able to play and train.

The Youth Coordinator makes sure that our under 18s players can develop and slot into the right adults teams having come up from Kidds training.

The Umpire Liaison Officers help with umpire allocation to facilitate our matches. They’re also in charge of training and developing our umpires to perform at their best.

The Press Secretary oversees the club’s relationship with the media and social media, as well as taking pictures of us all in action. This gives us a face in the wider world and ensures everything the club does is visible for those interested.

The Social Secretaries have the vital job of ensuring Wapping’s social side is as successful as its playing side. With multiple themed socials across the season, as well as casual meet ups after games, it means members can enjoy socialising.

The Social Media Officers keep our Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages looking fresh. Social media ensures the club can reach out to new and current members with updates on how teams are doing and what campaigns we’re part of.

The Kit Secretary is responsible for ordering new equipment for training and games, and making sure teams and individuals can order Wapping merch to play and train in.

The Membership Secretary welcomes new members and helps them reach the correct personnel. They are also responsible for making sure every player is registered.

The Assistant Treasurer helps our treasurer with the club’s finances to ensure the right money is coming in and out of the bank.

The Webmaster is responsible for keeping our website updated and full of useful information for those who want to find out more.

The Newsletter Coordinator writes our weekly Back Post newsletters that keep the club connected and updated with the week’s happenings as well as upcoming events to look forward to.
