Coaching.
At Wapping Hockey Club we invest significantly to ensure we have the right coaches for each of our teams, whether that’s to continue our Mens’ climb up the National Hockey League or encourage brand new players at our Back to Hockey sessions. Our Vice Chair of Performance is responsible for building on the previous year’s successes and this includes training up existing coaches, as well as new ones, from both the adult and youth section.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Matt Burton-Bowen as Head Coach for the 2023/24 season. This move displays the ambition of the club to build on the existing strong foundations and take Wapping to the next level.
“Over the past four seasons, I have worked with the Ladies 1st XI, overseeing a shift towards a performance mentality with the group. The work continues, but I am delighted to see the beginnings of real change. Now, I am excited to be doing the same with the Men’s 1st XI squad whilst also helping to introduce performance elements to other areas of the club.
